Mark Ray, Carthage, has been
named to the position of vice president – swine industry
specialist for 1st Farm Credit Services, according
to Wayne Gustafson, president and CEO of the agricultural
financial organization.In his new
position, Ray will work closely with 1st FCS
clients who have hog operations. He also will provide support
to 1st FCS offices and staff on local swine
projects, as well as continuing to build relationships in the
swine industry nationwide.
Ray has served as the financial professional
in 1st FCS’ Carthage office since joining the
organization in 1986. Carthage is located in an area with a
large swine industry base, and during his 18 years with 1st
FCS, Ray has worked extensively with clients involved in hog
production.
"For many years, Mark has been working with
some of the largest swine producers and expansion projects in
our association. He’s built his experience and skill within
the industry. We are fortunate now to be able to bring his
knowledge and background to benefit clients across our entire
42-county association who have hog operations," states
Gustafson.
"As the industry continues to consolidate,
hog producers face increasingly complex issues that require
specialized expertise. This is becoming more and more
important in the financial side of their business, as well.

Ray grew up on a grain and livestock farm in
Warren County and is still involved in the family farming
operation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from
Western Illinois University.
