1ST ANNUAL BLUE AND GREEN GOLF SCRAMBLE NETS $8200.00 FOR 4-H AND FFA

NORMAL, ILL. – More than $8200.00 will benefit the Illinois 4-H Foundation and the Illinois Foundation FFA thanks to the first annual Blue & Green Golf Scramble held August 4 at the Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington, Ill.

The scramble, co-sponsored by 1st Farm Credit Services, Normal, Ill. And Farm Credit Services of Illinois, Champaign, Ill., brought 33 golfers to the course for 18 holes of golf played as a best ball scramble.  The evening dinner event featured a silent auction with proceeds totaling more than $1000.00.

“We are pleased to be able to support the future of the agricultural industry by hosting this event,” said Wayne Gustafson, President and CEO, 1st Farm Credit Services.  “Our involvement, from planning the event to bringing golfers, has been a positive one for our company and for the foundations.”

“We also appreciate the co-sponsors of the event, that donated materials or monies to make the event a success,” said Ron Frenn, CEO of Farm Credit Services of Illinois.  “Working together, all organizations benefited from an enjoyable day.”

As an additional contribution, Farm Credit Services of Illinois and 1st Farm Credit Services matched the total amount raised, an amount equaling more than $4100.00.  In addition, all costs for printing materials were donated by the two associations.

Illinois FFA provides agricultural education programs to nearly 16,000 youth members in about 300 FFA chapters.  Illinois 4-H provides research-based positive youth development activities to more than 280,000 youth with the help of more than 26,000 volunteers.
