2007 was a banner year for agriculture and 1st Farm Credit Services, creating many positives for both the association and our clients.
The association surpassed many milestones: Our loan and lease volume exceeded $2.6 billion, we surpassed $600 million in new loans for real estate and capital needs and we provided more than 1.6 million acres with crop insurance coverage. I thank you, our clients, for turning to us for the expertise needed to make your operations thrive.
These numbers also reflect the growth of agriculture during the last year. Our strong past has projected us to these outstanding levels.
Our history in agriculture has helped us reach these goals. Like the family farm, our relationships with clients have been passed through the generations. We depend on these relationships to remain the premier and dominant provider of financial solutions for our client-owners.
As it is for agriculture, our future is bright too. The need for our products and services continues to increase and our actions to build a solid capital position show we are ready for a positive future.
The growth in the industry has shown us that we need to be committed to our mission of serving agriculture, but we also need to reach out to more and more facets of rural Illinois. We have developed new programs that will position us to even better serve rural America. We’re investing in our team members for the future of the association, and they are helping rural Illinois.
Just as 1st Farm Credit Services has been there in the past, we will be there for our clients for years to come. Our commitment to investing in rural America and providing to rural Illinois is something we focus on everyday.
We know we wouldn’t be able to achieve these great levels without our clients. We look forward to a successful 2008 for our clients and our association.
